Classic Chili Bowl

    1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
    2 medium (1 cup) onions, chopped
    1 small (1/2 cup) green bell pepper, chopped
    1 rib (1/2 cup) celery, chopped
    1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh garlic
    2 (14.5-ounce) cans diced tomatoes, undrained
    2 (15-ounce) cans kidney beans, undrained
    1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
    1 to 2 tablespoons chili powder
    1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon pepper
    1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper


    Garnish Ingredients:
    LAND O LAKES® Cheddar Cheese, sliced, cut diagonally
    Cook ground beef, onions, green pepper, celery and garlic in 5-quart
    saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until meat is
    browned (10 to 12 minutes). Drain off fat.
    Stir in all remaining ingredients except cheese. Continue cooking until
    mixture comes to a full boil (5 to 8 minutes). Reduce heat to low. Cook,
    stirring occasionally, until flavors are blended (30 to 40 minutes). Top each
    serving with cheese triangles.

    Microwave Directions: Combine ground beef, onions, green pepper, celery
    and garlic in 5-quart microwave-safe casserole. Cover; microwave on
    HIGH, stirring after half the time, until meat is no longer pink (12 to 16
    minutes). Drain off fat. Stir in all remaining ingredients except cheese.
    Cover; microwave on HIGH, stirring after half the time, until mixture comes
    to a full boil (18 to 25 minutes). Reduce power to MEDIUM (50%
    power); microwave until flavors are blended (20 to 30 minutes). Top each
    serving with cheese triangles.
   
    Makes 6 servings.
